Man the Animal

Man. He was created in the image of God, and put in dominion over all of nature, yet he trys to reject that and attempts to convince himself that he is just another animal.

“Evolution lowers man from the ‘image of God’ to the level of an animal. Why then should he not behave as one, in his own life and towards others?”

Man desperately wants to separate himself from God. In his sin he desires to be his own master. Man wishes to be “just another animal”, yet his deeds set him apart.

“Animals don’t behave like men. If they have to fight, they fight; and if they have to kill they kill. But they don’t sit down and set their wits to work to devise ways of spoiling other creatures’ lives and hurting them. They have dignity and animality.” -Richard Adams

In this way, Man becomes Man, and not the animal he wished to be.

“…In little more than a single century from 1820 to 1945, no less than fifty-nine million human animals were killed in inter-group clashes of one sort or another…. We describe these killings as men behaving “like animals,” but if we could find a wild animal that showed signs of acting this way, it would be more precise to describe it as behaving like men.” -Desmond Morris

Oh that Man would raise himself to even “animality”, the world would be much better off.

  1. Yes, unfortunately man can do a lot more harm and destruction to others than mere animals because of his brain. That is why teaching people that they are “just animals” is so dangerous.
